About the role;

Director of Corporate Finance

Overview

Reporting to the CFO, as the Director of Corporate Finance, you will provide leadership and guidance to Corporate and Company Controllers who are responsible for the day-to-day accounting, payroll and treasury activities and the preparation of their respective financial statements. You are a strong accountant with significant experience in successfully leading a multicompany, multinational team in Financial Reporting Planning and Budgeting.  This is an influential role that requires a high level of professionalism, discretion, and organization skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise a Corporate Controller and seven divisional controllers in Canada, USA and Mexico, ensuring corporate policy compliance and the proper accounting of their respective operations.
• Review and approve all consolidation entries
• Ensure timely preparation of all financial reporting
• Responsible for the quality and timeliness of variance analysis and management tools
• Responsible for the reliability of the financial data
• Responsible for all Budgets and monthly forecasts
• Coordinate and review tax filings prepared for Canada and US subsidiaries and manage the relationships with external tax consultants.
• Review and approve all tax and foreign exchange transaction accounting
• Prepare and publish annual audited financial statements for the group of companies
• Maintain a complex corporate structure and annual filings
• Coordinate the preparation of timely regulatory filings for the group of companies
• Coordinate audits with external auditors for all companies
• Support financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures
• Provide transaction support and accounting for mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations and legal entities rationalization activities
• Drive continuous improvement with respect to efficiency and compliance

Qualifications

• CPA designation with at least 10 years of relevant experience in a similar role
• Experience in auditing financial statements
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office 365 tools
• Must be comfortable using computer systems and quickly become familiar with the software in use in the organization
• Experience in standardising gl structures and financial statement presentation across multiple companies in multiple countries
• Experience designing, implementing and testing internal controls
• Experience in merger & acquisition integration
• Experience in ERP & Accounting software implementations
• General knowledge of corporate tax
• Ability to work across multiple jurisdictions and currencies
• Excellent organization and communication skills (French and English spoken and written); All internal reporting is completed in English
• Person with attention to details, strong ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and growing environment
• Experience in the Transport and Logistics would be an asset
